I love these Christmas flowers. When I was growing up my mother always managed to keep them around for long after the Christmas decorations had be stored. This year, I have managed to do the same, with the help of my husband who has lovingly nursed them while I have been working some long hours. I hope you enjoy this February flower and perhaps you can think of something that you would like to nuture along, long after it’s usual season is long completed. Keep making art!
Christmas is all about music and both of my kids are very into their music…as am I! This guitar was inspired by the musical enthusiasm of a friend as well as the musical enthusiasm of my children. I also saw a guitar something like this in a magazine at a music store!! Enjoy, tune in to your inner musician and keep making art!!
No matter how much I paint, I still love to just let the water and paint do as they please…two lovers completely reliant on one another and yet completely free and unencumbered, Enjoy the simplicity and keep making art!
My apologies for the quality of the last two photos…must have been tired when I took those but as I have said many times before, I am an artist, not a photographer. I hope you can endeavor to enjoy regardless!
Now that I have your attention!! Yes, this shoe is inspired by the great Marvin Gaye and his epic piece of music Sexual Healing. Shoe’s always have such sex appeal and I love to draw and paint them! I was listening to a feature called Rearview Mirror on CBC Radio2 Drive with Rich Terfry this past Friday and he told the story of Gaye’s departure from the U.S. and his settling in Belgium to rebuild himself. He had contacted a journalist to help him write his autobiography and when the journalist entered Marvin Gaye’s apartment he saw a huge pile of porno magazines. The journalist reportedly said something like ” It looks like you need some sexual healing man”…and the song was born in Marvin’s mind. I was still pretty young when this tune was on the charts but I remember it and I remember hearing of Marvin Gaye’s death less than a year later. Enjoy, listen again to the great Marvin Gaye and keep making music, love and art!!
This piece was actually created during the Christmas of 2010. I am posting this tonight instead of a new one because I have had a few medical issues the past few days that have, much to my dismay, prevented me from painting. I hope to post something freshly painted for you tomorrow. Enjoy, take care and keep making art!
I was at my daughter’s voice lessons and saw a painting on the wall that had something of this nature as a theme. I have no idea who the original artist was as I believe it was a mass-produced print and could see no artist signature. I had nothing but pastels as my disposal as I wanted to create some richness of texture and was far too busy to take the paints out. So, here you have it, my feeble attempt at this October band in pastels. Enjoy, listen to some jazz and blues and keep making art!!
A lovely walk we had at Cape Spear! I couldn’t resist the sky that day. There seemed to be nothing but land, sea and sky. So magnificent!
